On December 15, 2009, the Mississippi Recycling Coalition announced its Environmental Hero Award Winners for 2009. The pictures below are the presentations of those rewards to the Recyclers of the Year for the various categories.

Above the City of Quitman receives the award for Local Government Recycler of the Year Award. Accepting the award on behalf of the City is Mayor Eddie Fulton presenting by Mr. Mark Williams representing MRC. Others pictured include Mr. Andy Reese, Mr. Namon Davis, and Mr. Asa Spickard, the city employees that are responsible for the success of the city's recycling programs.

Above the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society (PTK) receives the award for the Non-Profit Recycler of the Year Award. Accepting the award on behalf of PTK, is Mr. Rod Risley, Executive Director of Phi Theta Kappa, presented by Ms. Kristi Sather-Smith, MRC President.

Above the University of Southern Mississippi receives the award for the Educational Institution Recycler of the Year Award. Accepting the award for USM is Mr. Larry Lee, Chief Sustainability Officer for USM presented by Ms. Kristi Sather-Smith, MRC President.
