The 23rd Annual Recycling Conference & Trade Show will be conducted at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Destin, FL. The Conference will be held March 7-10, 2010 and the Trade Show will run from March 7-9. A Call for Papers, Exhibtors, and Sponsors has been issued. The Arkansas Recycling Coalition has announced that the Arkansas Recycling Coalition Annual Conference and Trade Show will be September 23-25, 2009 at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks in Eureka Springs, AR. The keynote speaker will be Chaz Miller, Director of State Programs for National Solid Wastes Management Association and columnist for Waste Age Magazine. Sessions include History of Recycling, The Business of Recycling, Legislative and Commodity Update, Improving Recycling Rates, Plugging into Recycling, Community Relations, Recycling in High Traffic Areas, Adding New Recyclables, and Renewable Fuels and Energy. The Joint Conference of the Mississippi and Tennessee Recycling Coalitions was held on August 12th and 13th at the Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica, MS. We want to thank Christina Treglia of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and Mark Williams of the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality for their hard work and efforts in planning this conference as well as those who worked in registration and logistics and as session moderators. We also appreciate all of the speakers for attending and sharing their experiences and knowledge with us. The Southeast Recycling Development Council, Inc. (SERDC) has announced a workshop entitled, Green Prosperity 2009: Recycling and a Sustainable Southeast. The two-day conference is to be held on November 3 - 4, 2009 at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Lexington, KY. Sessions include exploring carbon credits, recycling's impact on a fiscal level, electronics collection, plastics recycling, recycling markets round table, tour of a local municipal recovery facility (MRF), and networking sessions.
